For those interested in more detail... With the repairs, careful and sensible troubleshooting saved a lot of time and bother: hugely less hassle than when I'd had a symptomatically-identical problem in another bathroom in the past, and a much better end result too. Steve also showed me the underlying issue and explained everything clearly so I know what to look out for now. With the new fittings, when some of the items I wanted didn't exist in the product range I'd named, Steve identified perfect alternatives and proactively covered the resulting combinations for me to consider. He dealt with the idiosyncracies of the less-than-stellar original builder's work, and I'm extremely happy with the final result. The overall cost was a pleasant surprise too, as I'd expected it to be more. Absolutely tops! :)

Steve came to change the anode on my hot water tank (10 year old solarhart unit) and also found that my tpr valve was not working well, so he replaced this. He initially

quoted me a price for the anode replacement and with the addition of the tpr valve and labour he charged an extra $105. I checked the price of the valve on the reece website and it seemed to be more than what he charged me for both the part and labour. So not only did he NOT charge for the time to install the tpr valve, he also didn't even seem to recover the full cost of the part! He was very professional and did not mind that I stood talking to him and watching while he worked. I would strongly recommend him for any work you have, don't bother ringing around for other quotes.
